Spousal PR Question

Hello,

I am a Canadian PR holder and about to get married coming December 2018. I am thinking of applying a TRV along with spousal PR for my wife. I came to know that first I need to apply for spousal PR , get myself approved as a sponsor and then can only apply for TRV. Is this correct?

Do I need to be in Canada to initiate the Spousal PR application?

No - that's not true. You can apply for a TRV first. Yes - you must be in Canada in order to sponsor your wife for PR. You cannot sponsor her from outside of Canada.

What I meant to ask is Can I initiate the PR application as soon as I get married in my home country? I will stay there for a month and come to Canada, is this allowed ? Can I initiate the application and come back after a month?

As Scylla replied, you have to be in Canada to apply.

So, no, you cannot "initiate" the application from you home country. You can start filling in the forms, gathering information, documents, photos...etc.
But you can only submit the application after you have returned to Canada.

I already answered this question. No - you cannot. You must be physically living in Canada at the time you initiate the application.
