Hi,

I am a permanent resident in Canada and I'm looking forward to sponsor my (soon) wife (she's from Brazil). We've been together for around the past two years and both have been living in Europe for the past three months (student exchanges for some months).

We were planning to start an inland process so she could come to Canada (which we know, is longer), but we recently we learned that we're expecting a baby. This (very good news! :)) changed our plan. So, we plan to get married in June in order to start the process as soon as possible. We though thought that the outland process would be better for us, but we found different information on internet. For instance, this:

Outland Sponsorship

An Outland application is generally pursued when the sponsored partner is living outside of Canada. However, Outland applicants can still be in Canada and apply through the Outland program, and may be permitted to travel in and out of Canada throughout the application process. Outland applications are processed through the visa office that serves the applicant’s country of origin, or where they have resided legally for at least one year. (canadavisa.com/spousal-and-common-law-partner-sponsorship.html)

Also, if this is possible, I'd like to know if we could still apply for the outland (shorter) process while she stays in Canada for her whole pregnancy. As she has a Brazilian citizenship, the treatment delay time would be around 8 months, but, as you might understood, a pregnancy is around 9 months and we're around the ninth week... (cic.gc.ca/francais/information/delais/index.asp)

One of the reasons we hesitate about engaging in the inland process, is basically because of the health coverage. We've heard from some friends that inland appliers don't have health coverage, which is just impossible to contemplate in our case.

So, let us know if you have info about those questions:

1. Is outland process possible from inside Canada in a situation like ours (expecting baby) as the text says?
2. Do inland appliers have access to a health coverage?
3. Is the delay treatment time accurate (or something like that)?

Thank you very much. Hope to hear your opinion soon,

José and Natali

Has she completed the immigration medical yet? Is this something she did before she got pregnant?

Which province are you living in in Canada?

No, as I said, we're in Europe now because I need to finish my last semester (in about 3 weeks) in order to finish and pursue my studies in Canada.

And no, she hasn't done any medical form / exam.

Québec.
