As I am getting married in 2017, so soon I will be working on the spousal sponsorship application. I have a very important question, Is it mandatory to change wife(Applicant) last name to my last name on her passport(Me husband with canadian PR) after marriage or it's fine. We can apply without changing the last name.
Does it will cause problem to get PCC in India because she will be having her maiden name on her passport ?
In India they will raise any problem for PCC because she will be having her maiden name on her passport after marriage, not my last name ?
For Canada, a wife does not have to change her last name when she gets married. It is her decision, except in Quebec, where a wife is supposed to keep her own name.
If it is normal in India for a wife to keep her own last name after marriage, then it should not be a problem for the PCC.

There is no legal requirement in India to change the surname after marriage. But make sure the names on documents are consistent. If the passport says XY, you won't get a PCC for XZ. So those inconsistencies need to be resolved.
For us, we found it was not worth it to do the name change as there was too much paperwork/headache involved.
