spousal immigration and workpermit

hi ,
i am in difficult situation help me out . the thing is i want to apply spousal immigartion for my wife who is on a work permit in canada.
i will apply as soon as possible . the thing is that her work permit is expiring next year april 2014. is there any way of extension of her work permit ??? does she have to leave canada untill the first stage approval.
is there any way by which she can stay in canada after expiration of work permit . is there a way to extend a work permit along with spousal application

Yes, do an "inland" application and include an open work permit application with it. She will benefit from "implied status" to cover the period between expiry of her work permit and PR stage 1 processing being completed. Note that this does not apply if she is on an IEC work permit. It may not apply if she is on a PGWP as well.
