I had a question, if I am on Employment Insurance (EI) from last 8month can I still apply for sponsorship....I want to sponsor my husband. Also I stay with my parents, so can I add my dad's name as co-signer, will that help in anyways? Or can I say that we be stayin with my family and they be supporting us for time being until I get the job.
you are still eligible if you are on EI, but not welfare (social assistance)... it looks better if you have some sort of employment status (they will be less concerned of how you will support him if he is unable to find a job), but it's not grounds for refusal... spousal sponsorships do not require a income backing and as such, do not need co-signers, so i don't think it's necessary... having your family say they will help you out is probably not a bad idea just to not give the VO a reason to scruitinize...

EI is not considered welfare, so you can apply.
For a spousal sponsorship, you cannot have a cosigner. A cosigner is for when someone is sponsoring some other family member, such as a parent. In that case the sponsor's spouse can cosign. In your case you can't have a cosigner.
However, including a letter from your parents stating that you and your husband will be staying in their home and that they will be supporting you two until you get jobs and some financial security is a very good idea. This shows: you and your husband have thought about and planned for a future together; and your parents know about and approve of the relationship. This is considered good evid3ence of a genuine relationship.
