Hi
I'm a Permanent Resident, willing to sponsor my spouse to Canada. I'm afraid I'll be found ineligible to sponsor just because I'm unemployed. I was working till last month in my home country for almost a year. And now I'm looking for a job in Canada.
My question is: since I'm currently unemployed, is it a good idea to submit a bank statement to my sponsorship application to show them although I don't have income at the present time, but I've saved some money?? And if yes, how much money do you think there should be in my account?
There is no minimum income requirement to sponsor. The only major issue is if you have been on welfare in Canada. But CIC will want to know how you and your spouse will support yourselves in Canada. Showing some savings in a bank is good. If your spouse has good employment prospects in Canada once a PR, you can highlight that. If you have family willing to help out financially, you can highlight that too.
You mentioned you were working in your home country until recently. Are you now currently in Canada looking for work?
thanks for the reply
yes, I came back to Canada on the 23th of may, and am looking for a job. do you have any idea if I can update my application after I submit it? It'll be great if in the future I can update and let them know that I found a job.
