Hi friends,
I have been working in USA on H1B for the past 4 years. I became a Canadian permanent resident very recently, and moving to Canada soon.
It is likely that I may get married to a girl from India (who I am going to see when I visit India this winter) within the next few months. Is it OK to sponsor my wife so soon after getting PR? We never lived together, and not in any relationship till now.
Later if I want to sponsor my dad also, do I need to wait for some time or I can sponsor immediately?
You can sponsor your spouse anytime after you become a PR, as long as you can prove that your relationship is genuine AND you did not marry her so she can gain easy access to Canada. If your relationship is not too strong, these may be hard to prove. You need months upon months of chat logs, pictures, emails, text messages, money transfer, plane tickets etc. If you did not default on your sponsorship obligation to your spouse, you can apply for sponsor your dad, but I bet it takes forever there in ND.

Thanks my friend. So, the bottom line is that I cannot sponsor my dad immediately after I sponsored my spouse? I should wait for sometime like specifically 1 or 2 years?
Thank you. I hope so. Better be it!
One thing that I am more interested in Canada rather than my job in USA is that I thought it would help in reuniting with family members (spouse, dad etc) faster.
