I received an invitation to sponsor my parents. I would like to only sponsor my mother as my father is already living with another woman and they have a child. My parents are not divorced . Are they considered legally separated since they had not been living together for 10 yrs? Will I need to provide documents to prove their status?

To be considered "legally separated" they need legal proceeding and documents.
Not sure how this can proceed. If he is cooperative and healthy, maybe better to ask him to go through the process and put as non-accompanying dependent.
Otherwise, you will need to prove separation and/or file legal document for separation.
