I live in Japan and my family and I are moving to Canada. My 4 year old daughter and I are Canadian.
So I'm in the process of collecting everything to sponsor my wife and step-son. I have been married to her for 10 years. We decided a few years ago that we would leave Japan after my step-son graduated from High School to make things easier on him. Up until about a year ago immigration said you can sponsor someone up to the age of 22. Then to my surprise when reading about 4 months ago, they changed it to 19! Fortunately my son is only 18 BUT he turns 19 in a couple months. I am planning on sending all this info in a couple weeks at the latest. Waiting on health check and criminal record forms which I'll have to get translated.
So, is he okay? As long as i send the info before he's 19 is he okay? What can I do to help let IMM know that he's still under our care and not living on his own etc.
Any info on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
