Re: the return ticket. How long from your arrival date is it to your return ticket departure date? We'll be buying a return ticket for my husband, but I'm not sure how long the stay in Canada should be before the return date. We'll get a ticket with cancellation insurance, or a refundable ticket, but for the sake of pleasing immigration, I'm not sure how far apart the arrival and departure dates should be.

Typically for a visa-exempt traveler, you would get a 6-month visitor stamp on the spot when you arrive in Canada. So if immigration officer asks about a return flight (lots of times they don't even care), it should be for anytime up to but not going over 6 months later.

On my wife's 'Generic Application form for Canada,' under the section "National Identity document" for number 1, we clicked 'yes' for the info, is it okay to use my wife's ID card? or should it be a passport or another document?
Stupid question:
we have no children, and no dependents, so she doesn't have to fill out the form "Additional dependents declaration" correct?

My wife is going to send off her stuff to be translated today or tomorrow, but don't think she will put that in. We have already copied the first page of her passport, so don't think that is necessay. The old adage, too much information may not be a good thing.
