You can sponsor your child and at the same time apply to renew your PR card. Your expired card shouldn't be a problem but you can include a cover letter stating that you know your PR card is expired but you have already applied to renew.
You need to sponsor your child outland as you have been told. Inland is only an option if you are sponsoring a spouse as well.
Your child will not be deported but even if you leave Canada with your child, since you now meet the RO, you can get a PR travel document in order to return. However, as a PR sponsor, you must be living in Canada during the processing time of the child's application.
My wife is co-signer on our child's application, in case our child has to leave Canada, my wife would need to stay in Canada during the process due to being the co-signer?
or mom & son can leave canada and father (main sponsor) continue to stay in canada during application process?
btw have you heard child being called for interview outside Canada?
You don't need a co-signer for a child because there is no income requirement. Therefore, you are the sponsor. You only need a co-signer when you are sponsoring other relatives such as parents and your income alone is not high enough.
I haven't heard of children being sponsored outside Canada being called in for interviews. I have heard of a case of a child applying for citizenship being called in for an interview but they didn't really interview the child, they just wanted to meet the child for some reason.
While filling the sponsorship application IMM0008 for my son section#10 is asking (current residence country, status, from/to dates)
I am thinking to answer as following
Current country of residence -- Canada
Status -- Other (out of status) ...or I just say Visitor?
From / To dates -- not to sure what to write for TO DATE as my son will not be leaving canada until his sponsorship is sorted..shall I just put the same date as expiry date on his passport?
