so after being "in process" for for almost 2 months i finally recieved my husband's AOR from Tel Aviv dated JUNE 2ND ...and they are also requesting his birth certificate.
"This must be received at this office by: 06/02/2011. Im positive it's a typo, cuz it doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
I got this letter to my home here in Canada. I have my husband's birth certificate. I don't know if I should send it to them by mail or wait till Aug 5, I going to visit my husband and I could drop it off myself.
This is soooooo frustrating. Why couldn't they just have sent us an email like I requested. I thought since they hadn't requested any other documents that he would be getting his PPR soon
Well, obviously they can't have expected you to deliver it on the same day as the date of the letter. Contact them via email (I know, they never really answer such things) but advise them of the fact that you just received the letter, the deadline is the same as the date of the letter, and you will be delivering it ASAP.
Sometimes, depending on the document required, such requests are given 60 day deadlines, so if you count 60 days from the letter's date, you would arrive at Aug 1, which is next Monday.
It depends on you whether you want to mail it now (how reliable/fast is mail service?) or hand-deliver it when you get there if you would get there faster.
Over there you can get an official english birth certificate on the same day, so I was thinking of having my husband go get one tomorrow and have one of his friends (he's in Palestine and cannot go to Tel Aviv) hand deliver it by Friday. That would also be okay right??
Do we need to put it in an envelope with my husband's file number and and info on it?
Would his friend just go there and say that he's dropping off document request for XXXXXXX.
If he can have it done that quickly, then by all means, in your shoes I would go ahead and have him get it. Definitely it should be in an envelope with his name, DOB and file number, as well as his contact information attached/included.
As for his friend delivering it, as a "just in case" measure, I would have him do a letter authorizing his friend to submit the information on his behalf, along with a copy of his (your husband's) ID. The friend should have his own ID handy as well. I don't know how they are in Israel about people delivering/receiving official documents on someone's behalf, but I have found that in Jamaica it is best when dealing with government types from arm's length to include something showing that the bearer is authorized to act on your behalf. It saves a lot of time and rubbish questions from the bureaucrats here, LOL.
loll....ok. i will have him do that for sure. I really appreciate ur help. I was sooo upset, because i thought since they didn't request anything then that means they didn't need anything. I feel like these 2 months were just wasted
I even sent them an email requesting his file number like 23 days ago and they never even replied. Oh well..it's all part of the game I guess.
