I intend to complete my soft landing in May and return to the US using AVR. I'm contemplating doing this via land border(Peace Bridge) or Air(YYZ). Lurking around these forums, I've noticed many posts where CBSA officers are asking folks completing their soft landing via land border if they are moving permanently and when the candidate says no, they do not initiate PR card. I've noticed that it's less likely to happen when traveling by air(Or atleast I haven't seen any such thread). What are your thoughts on this? I want my PR card to be initiated and will cross back via a land border using COPR and passport to retrieve it once it has been mailed to my friend's address.
i would also like to know what happens if they do not start the PR card process. Do we accomplish the requirement of landing before the COPR expiration?

By presenting and 'landing', you have met the requirement and are a PR (and will be told such), it is not dependent upon their decision to start the PR card process.
