Hello,

I have a questions in regards to Visa application. My grandmother is born in Canada and is a duel citizen of Canada and USA. My mother is born in USA, but I do not know by default if she is a Canadian citizen also by birth? If not could she apply for Canadian Citizenship. If she becomes citizen, could than I apply being that my mother is a Citizen? It is a tricky I know, so im trying to get my mind around all this. If that doesn't work out I believe I can get a Skilled Worker Visa, i took the online assessment test and scored 68 so im close. I have relatives in Canada but they are not direct, cousins and aunts I have there, so I dont know if they count as family for the point system. I also have not completed by BA degree, but by the time this application is through the system I will be, so i doubt that will count either? One other thing, my wife is from the Ukraine and is still a citizen there, but she has a permanent visa in the USA. I dont know if there is anything she has to do special or can I just claim her as my dependent and all will be fine. I hope everything works out, just trying to get all the knowledge i can before applying. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Shawn

To be sponsored as part of your mother's family class, you would need to be a dependent under age 22 at the time your mother filed the application.

Your skilled worker application must be correct as of the date you file it - not the date you think it would be 'through the system.' So you can't list a BA degree unless it's awarded before you submit your application.

In a skilled worker application, your wife would be listed as your spouse, not your dependent.
