Skilled / Professional class and spouse sponsorship

My wife is a non-resident Canadian citizen (passport, citizenship card and SIN). I am South African and qualifies under the skilled / professional class (besides the sponsorship option). We've been married for 18 years and currently live in Dubai. If my wife move to Canada permanently (she can arrive and start working in a short period of time), would it be possible for me to join her as well under a temporary work permit (this will be an open work permit)? And once within Canada she apply for my sponsorship?
