Hi,

I´ve secured a COPR under the Skilled Professional program along with my family. I´d like to know if its possible for my wife to enter Canada alone and start setting up residence there so that I can continue to work & earn in my present country while she sets things up.

Is her PR independent of mine or do I need to land before she does? How does it work? Due to current job commitments, I´m unable to land in Canada so I wanted to know if she can land alone before the landing visa expires.

Thanks
Sumen

Hi sumen,

If you are the Primary applicant then you have to land first.

Hi Sumen,

The rule says that primary applicant needs to land first and secondary applicants either can come along or can do there landing later but they cant do the landing before primary applicant, so if you primary applicant then you need to go along with her she wont be able to complete her landing of her own. So if you are primary applicant then go with her and after landing come back and continue your job while she settle there or if she is the primary applicant then she can go alone you dont need to go with her.

Cheers
Saki

Saki, if i may ask a question about landing. If me (Primary applicant) and my husband go first there, can he go back home after 3 months to take the children, without any problem about landing issues? TNX

Thanks all.

A follow up question....
if I land & get my PR but my wife can´t land with me or before her Visa expires, can I apply for a family sponsorship for her ... again? How easy is this and how long does is normally take compared to a standard Skilled Worker application?

Thanks again!

Hi everyone,

In a slimilar vein but slightly different. If my wife (who is a Canadian Citizen) and our daughter (who is also a citizen by way of having a Canadian mom) arrive a month before me (the primary applicant through Family Class) do they need to be at the same airport that I land at? We are planning to move to Winnipeg which is where they will be, but I assume I will go through the immigration process at the first Canadian Airport I land at, which is most likely to be Vancouver.

There is no need for her to come across to vancouver in that instance is there?

Thanks,
Simon
