Sin number, extension of study permit?

Hi
My sin number and study permit both will expired on this 30th april,2019. Nd my final semester result will declare on 26 april. I have not applied for extension of study permit to stay in Canada till convocation nor sin number to start working, as I will apply for work permit as well. I am very confused with all these what should I do, from where I have to start? Do I need to extend my study permit to stay here untill I received my work permit? What are the requirements to extent sin number because I want to start work when applied for work permit.

If you intend to apply for the post graduation work permit then you need to have a valid study permit.

Didn't they remove the valid study permit requirement after Feb 14 ?

Yes they did remove the study permit requirement. But if you look at the guide to apply (updated march 2019) it does say that if the applicant intends to apply for the PGWP while in Canada they must have valid visitor status or valid study permit

It is confusing. I am assuming that since staying in Canada without legal status is an offence, then they will actually want people to change their status to visitor or extend their study permit before it expires (to maintain legal status)
