SIN card application

Has anyone had an issue applying for SIN card?
I heard someone went to Service Canada right after she landed and they told her to come back at a later day because the system wasn't updated.
Credibility of the person who told me the story isn't great and I am not sure whether to trust this or not.
If nobody else had a similar problem, I plan to go to Service Canada on Monday.
Any thoughts on this?

My wife and I went to Service Canada the next day after landing. It took less than 5 minutes for us to receive new SIN's on pieces of paper without any problems. We received our SIN cards delivered to my mailbox exactly after a week.
