I have applied for study permit based on admission offer from McMaster University, Burlington, Ontario for the MBA program..however, now I have an admission offer from Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Ontario for the MBA(Co-op) program..I intend to attend Wilfrid Laurier University rather than McMaster University..I don't think it matters whether I update CHC or not, as the study permit is not city based or university based..is it?
Many many congratulations! I heard Wilfred Laurier University is the best business school among world's best universities. It is like IBA karachi or LUMS in Pakistan.
Regarding informing CHC, i would suggest you not to inform them as it may delay your process. Yes you can go to WLU after you get visa, as changing course and university after reaching Canada is not an issue.
Decide after discussing with other members as well.
As far as I know, the information of the institution goes to the Port of Entry although it is not written in the issued paper by the CHC (as you may know, the actually study permit is issued at the port of entry which (I saw from a sample study permit image and the name of institution is written), CHC only gives an approval of it through a paper). So if you suddenly present another acceptance letter at the port of entry, it might get the things complicated over there. So, I think you should contact with the local CHC and say what you have to do. Yes, it might slow down your processing but its better to solve the issue than to get in a complicated situation at the port of entry.

As a international student in Canada i would say that it is best for you to wait until you get a study permit and after that you can apply for a change in the university..By doing that in the middle of the application process, it can cause serious delays in the application and can also lead to your application not being processed for the time of your enrollment into the university..
