i'm a CDN citizen and my wife received her PR card. she landed and got her confirmation of landing but never moved to Canada permanently as it took long time to get her PR card and she couldn't get a SIN and couldn't work - the medical board wouldn't give her a license without a PR card. She was not going to quit her job and sit unemployed in Canada. So i decided to move down to the States instead and live there with her together.
Do we need to notify CIC in writing that i moved don to the states and my wife and I are living together there ?
No, you don't have to inform anybody. Your wife's PR status is protected as long as she is accompanying a CDN citizen spouse outside Canada but this is an issue for later if she wants to renew her PR card.
She could have gotten a SIN without her PR card using her landing papers for up to a year after her landing. If she still did not get one, she should do it on some visit to Canada while her PR card is still valid. If you want to move later after it expires, she will be unable to get a SIN until after it has been renewed.
Hello, I have a similar concern. But the scenario is reversed in that my wife, who is a CDN citizen is sponsoring me. I wanna live in the US for few years before moving up North to Canada. I will be practicing pharmacy in the US and has asked my wife to move in with me. I looked at the PR obligations, and it said that either me or the wife has to be employed by a Canadian corporation in the US which will satisfy the 2/5 years of physical presence requirement.
