Canadian PR since December 2017.
Citizenship application: September 2020 (2 adults, 2 kids). Residence: Newfoundland.
Background completed in September 2021.
Still NO TEST INVITE!!!
Contacted 2 times local MP - they were given only generic answers like Covid, longer processing times, blah blah.
Contacted IRCC. This is the answer I received:
Thank you for contacting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
We verified the information you provided and can confirm that the application is still in process.
Due to the ongoing situation related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), some IRCC offices are currently operating with reduced or critical staff only.
We are working on processing applications as quickly as possible; however, processing times are affected by COVID-19. We will make all the necessary efforts to finalize the application as soon as possible.
In addition, our processing times page has recently been updated. Please ensure to consult the page for the most up to date information about your application.
Rest assured that you will be informed as soon as a decision is reached or if additional information is needed.
In conclusion, since our agents do not have access to more information about your case status or processing time, we invite you to verify the status of your application online.
We hope the information provided is helpful in assisting you with your enquiry.
Received my citizenship certificate yesterday. Glad that the process completed after such a long wait. I know some people are still waiting . Hang in there... things seem to have gathered pace now.
So my oath is scheduled for May 24th and I'm due to travel to the UK in early June. So on May 24 I will no longer have a PR card as they make me cut it up. So what options do I have? I will not have time to get my citizenship certificate and apply for passport before I fly to the UK.
No idea. If you are lucky maybe a couple of months.
I applied around the same time as you. Took the test in July 2021. Submitted passport copies in September 2022.
Silence since.
GCMS notes don't reveal much.
Webform only got me a generic response from them.
MP never replied.
Friends who applied around the same time as me or even some time after me, are applying for their passports already.
IRCC/CIC sucks.

Hi Matt-NL
First of all I am really sorry that you have to wait for so long for your test invite but I have few suggestions that you can consider:
1. You need to start preparing to renew your PR card because your 5 years are almost about to end and given the delay in your citizenship application, you may want to do this step at the earliest.
2. You must find a lawyer to look into your application because most of us have either become citizens or just waiting for the oath. So your application is either lost in the system or there isn't any agent assigned to it. The lawyer will give you some reasonable steps that you can take. Although this will be little expensive but at least you might see some movement on your application.
