[EDIT] Don't wait till PPR for updating them. One of my friends received passport number mismatch after PPR because his old passport was no longer valid and he submitted his new one.
Hopefully timelines dont shift, if only the passport number has changed.
Did you get any update from CIC after you updated the passport details? And whats the status of your friend after sending the passport when he got the PPR?
Could you please let me know, because I am still confused reading all the threads whether to update them or wait till the PPR and send both passports at that time.
Application Approved. FSW-O. Indian: residing in US.
Just got off a call with the CIC agent after receiving a ghost update today.
Here are my timelines:
AOR : 20th Sep
MEP : 20th Oct
IP2: 20th Nov
Ghost update: today - 9th Jan
Called CIC and they told the ghost update was due to the file being approved.
Hope this helps
Now waiting for the PPR request, hopefully it comes soon.
My AOR is Sept 18. I called CIC and the agent told me that that eligibility is met but the background check hasn't started yet. I know January 18th is the 4th month but I see the September applications moving, but they are moving dead slow for some reason.
I received "How to find a job" message when I submitted by EE application before ITA as my CRS was above the cutoff.
Recently, I have been noticing a trend i.e., few people who have Indian citizenship but reside in the US, get "How to find a job" message when their application crosses IP2 stage.
I received that email again in December. I have inquired with others who have similar AOR as mine (last week of September) and they have received it too in December.

Interesting I received that email 1 month after MEP, in early November. My AOR is beginning of September.
US resident, still in IP1, not Indian. I've read rumors that's when the application is moved from the CIO to the LVO.

My application shows "We are processing your background check" since MEP, which many people call as IP2.
It's hard to conclude what is IP1 or IP2 but, it was certainly interesting to see that trend. Initially, I thought this was an automated message but then I noticed few people with AOR very close to mine also got this email and they said their application moved to IP2.
