Self-Employed Application 2018

Hi all,

As a Director in a Private Limited Company, do I fall under the category of 'Self Employed'? Is this category only applicable to Proprietors?

What is your NOC? Does it fall under the professions mentioned here first of all - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=291&top=6

1. We received your application for permanent residence on December 7, 2018.
2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on February 20, 2019.
3. We started processing your application on February 20, 2019.
4. We sent you a letter on February 20, 2019. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

We(Me & My Wife) have done our bio-metrics on 21st FEB. However, till now no update so far. Is there any one who is in the same shoes of mine?Hope for the best.

Yes, I'm a Film Producer and my company is a film production company. My NOC is 5131.

I got a question over NOC PHOTOGRAPHER

It reads as the heading -

522 Photographers, graphic arts technicians and technical and co-ordinating occupations in motion pictures, broadcasting and the performing arts

Mentioned on the page.

So does it means that if I am a photographer, then I must be hired in motion pictures, broadcasting and other performing arts.

Please clarify.

Just go through the description of the fashion designer NOC here and see if it describes what you do. If it does then yes you can apply under this programme. Just ensure you're very clear in describing your job and duties in your application because that description will determine your eligibility. Also you need to describe why you feel you meet the definition "world class".

In a nutshell you just have to be convincing in explaining to the processing officer how you meet the eligibility requirements for this programme. That's 90% of the journey in my opinion so think about it carefully and prepare accordingly. Hope that helps

3). if I am full time working in an orgaization and not a self employed professional can I still apply?

Hi,

Understand the requirements first -

1. 2 one-year periods being self-employed in cultural activities, or
2. 2 one-year periods participating at a world-class level in cultural activities, or
3. Combination of both

It means you needs to be self employed for at least two years, which you already are.

It doesn't says as a compulsion that you have to be working on world class scale.

So, relax on that part.

Where did you get the description of photographer as such? As I look at the description of NOC 5221 for photographer here it is not bundled with the other occupations you have listed there. In any case you DO NOT need to be hired in motion pictures, broadcasting and other performing arts even based on what you have pasted there

1) Just indicate the correct NOC in your application. If you quote the wrong one your application will be rejected outright

2) Yes having international clients does help your case

3) Yes I already answered that twice. You can still apply if you're not self employed. Just ensure you make the case that the work you were involved in was to a "world class level"

I have gone to the official government description of NOC 5221 and photographer is a standalone occupation there. it's not bundled with the graphics arts technicians that are included in your quote. And your NOC code is only three digits instead of the normal 4 so I cannot look it up. Do you mind providing a link to where you found that info?

Hi everyone

I have a question regarding NOC codes for the self employment application. What do you do if more than one code applies to you?

For example, my primary code as a video editor would be 5225 (Audio and video recording technicians) but my experience and other services I offer in my self employed capacity also include:

5221 Photographers
5222 Film and video camera operators
5223 Graphic arts technicians

So my question is, can you apply with multiple NOC codes? Or do I select 1 primary and mention the other NOC codes that apply to me in my application? Or do I only mention the primary and ignore the others?

Any help will be greatly appreciated! Also, if anyone with the same (or similar) NOC codes has received their COPR or is currently in the application process, I’d love to hear from you!
