Do you have any idea / theories on what it took SO long ? is it partly also because as your name suggests because of green card or other reasons including the RQ and hitting those very big delays of CIC earlier ?
Look forward to your response...and Good Luck again !
Finally my almost five year journey towards Canadian citizenship is over now with me taking the Oath yesterday. This is a great forum and a big thanks for the inputs from everyone. Best wishes to those who are expecting their oath invitation.
Thanks. Yes my frequent travels to US warranted a RQ. Transfer of files between Scarborough office and St Clair office was another reason. Last but not least is my renewal of PR card. It took almost another year to renew. Till such time my PR was renewed, the my citizenship application was put on hold. After painful 4 years and nine months, the happy event of the ceremony took place.
Ceremony was nice; They checked the PR cards and original landing paper against the pink letter. They cancelled the original landing paper and took the PR card. They did not check the passports, though it was requested. They let my wife and children to attend the ceremony as there was enough seats. Court clerk gave the instructions on the entire procedure. Then the CJ entered the hall and gave a speech followed by taking oath in English and French. They CJ handed over the certificates and ended with singing O Canada. Finally clerk gave instructions on applying for PP. CJ came again and pose for photographs for those interested.
So is it safe to say that you do not need an updated passport to become a citizen. My pasport is expired and I am wondering whether I should renew it. It is a difficult and long process to get it renewned in my country so I would be happy if it is not necessary.
Would any one know for sure if a valid passport is needed?

Just wanted to drop a quick message to say my journey is finally over !
I had my oath on saturday @ scarborough.
It started around 9am and ended around 10am. Had 75 oath takers.
Ceremony was short.
I want to say a big thank you to this forum for helping me through this process over the years !
And I wish all those still on the journey the best of luck and my best advice is to never loose hope or patience.
Good news for today. Today, I got Oath letter for November 5, 2014. Citizenship long Journey is going to an end but not our learning and struggling for success. I am thankful to all forum members to help and encourage in this tedious process.
BIG THANKS FOR ALL ********* 8) 8) 8) :-*
