My Mum (UK passport holder) and her husband (my step-father) want to visit us here in Canada this summer.
My step-father holds a Romanian passport but has been legally resident in the UK for over 10 years.
I've learned that he needs to submit his application to London, and not Bucharest.
Is the correct form IMM 5257?
They don't have much money to support themselves whilst over here (and they will only be staying with us) but supporting them is not an issue for us. Is it enough for them to provide a bank statement from us to prove they are financially ok? Is there a figure that CIC will be looking for? I have a form with a link for this but I can't get it to open.
I appreciate any answers, and any extra advice anyone can give.

He must submit evidence of his immigration status in the UK + proof of his strong ties to the UK/reasons to return home + previous travel history will help too

Yes, that link opens. I went through a faux process on his behalf to see if he was eligible and the info it gave at the end gave links such as passport info, finances etc but I couldn't open them.
Status and ties to the UK should be no problem - I just hope they have some money in the bank!
Has your step father applied for TRV yet and/or did he get approved? what kind of documents did you submit? Could you also give me the time line if possible?
Im asking this because my husband also applied for TRV online. We are also living in the UK and I have Dutch pasport and he has Sri lankan paspoort. He has Uk resident permit. We applied on May 25th and still waiting for a decision.
I'm so sorry I never came back to this. He did get approved for a 5 year TRV and very quickly. I can't remember how long exactly but I think it was only a few weeks.
He sent proof of salary, letter of invite from me and bank info I think.
