I know that no-one can speak for CIC or predict their decisions and that each case is different but I thought people may have had similar experiences they could share.

My British mother and her Romanian husband wish to come and visit us for a few weeks. They both live in the UK where he's been a PR for over 10 years.

On his application form he's had to answer Yes to the question asking whether he's even been refused a visa. He was initially refused a visa to visit the UK before he and my mother were married but was granted PR once they were married.

He's also has to answer Yes to the question about ever being arrested, charged etc. I don't know too many details but I think it was to do with criminal damage (to his own property) possibly tied in with domestic violence.

I'm really concerned that these two points - especially together - will seriously count against his chances of getting a visa. Does anyone have an opinion they could share please?

How long ago was the arrest and what was the result? Was he charged?

He was arrested for domestic assault in 2007. I assume he was charged because he got 2 years probation.

That's a problem. Based on the information you've provided, he's inadmissible to Canada and will need to apply for rehabilitation before he can qualify for a TRV.

Not what I wanted to read, but thank you for taking the time to find that link for me.

I think they are going to declare everything and see what - if anything - comes back.
