My husband has hepatitis B and he told that to the medical examiner. He had it since birth. He told the examiner that he sees a gastro doctor for his hepatitis B and takes medication for it to keep the levels low. The examiner had him have the the gastro doctor said a note about his prognosis, etc. for the next 10 years so they can send it to immigration. We got a copy of the letter today and it says his prognosis is good as long as he stays on the medication and he is at risk for carcinoma in the next ten years cause of the hepatitis. Will that ruin my husband's chances of being able to immigrate to Canada? I am sponsoring him. Thanks.
The issues you describe would only involve the "excessive demand" concern for medical inadmissibility and spouses are not subject to the excessive demand test.
Any kind of cancer does not affect immigration process. It is the infectious disease which they are more concerned about.
Chances of getting Liver cancer is minimal if Hep B was completely treated and liver function is good at present time. If it is chronic Hep B with altered liver function, then chances of developing Liver cancer is present down the road, but it depends on social habits( alcohol, drugs).
It is hard to say about the chances of developing cancer in next 10 years without current lab test showing liver function, coagulation profile and Live state( cirrhotic/non cirrhotic). But again it does not affect the immigration process for sure as it is not infectious.
They might think that a person will be a burden to the Canadian health system considering a possibility of cancer development but that could not be a reason for rejecting an application.( Especially spousal application)
