Hallo, all efforts to get my visa from canadain embassy in Dakar Senegal has been futile. My PR visa will expire on the 3/23/2019, I just got informed on Friday. I thought it was a six months visa.
What can I do? I sent a prepaid enveloped to the embassy, called , wrote, contacted DHL, looked for help on fb yet I still can’t get my passport back.

If it expires without a reasonable amount of time for you to land in Canada due to IRCC’s error, IRCC may provide an extension into a new passport.
It's up to you to demonstrate that IRCC have erred.
By default, the visa expires on the 1st anniversary of the most recent medical examination or the passport expiry date, whichever comes first. There is no 6 months rule.

I am now in Canada. My visa was extended from 3/23 - 6/10.
I am telling my story because it can help someone tomorrow. So what happened was this; I was granted a PR to Canada but every attempt to retrieve my passport from the embassy in Dakar from the US failed. I contacted DHL Cameroon, my country of origin through a relative. I paid the fees and they picked up the passport from Canadian embassy in Dakar to Cameroon. They could not send to me in the US so my relative picked up the passport in Cameroon and mailed it to me.
Also the visa was extend from 3/23-6/10.
So if you are in a similar situation, contact someone from ur country of origin and use the DHL to go pic up the passport from the Canadian embassy
