Restoring Status

I lost my Status recently because my PGWP expired. My common law wife decided to sponsor me. Do I need to restore my status as a visitor first then let my common law wife apply for my sponsorship or I can just apply for both restoration of status and sponsorship at the same time?

You have 90 days from your PGWP expired! PLEASE RETORE YOUR STATUS ASAP as a visitor and / or a student. you do not want to be in Canada without a status!
