Renewing drivers license in nova scotia with no status

I applied for spousal pr in march and no aor still. My drivers license expires in august and i have no status for about a year. Can i renew my license? I do not know what documents they need. I read somewhere that they can extend the license with implied status but need aor to show them. Any help will be greatly appreciated
