So I have sent away my application for PR inland, along with an application for OWP. My current visa expires in July 16th, in which case I am expecting to have Implied Status.
For the sake of this post, lets say I do have Implied Status, but my SIN has expired. I assume I must resume this to work legally? I went to a Service Canada the other day and they cannot renew my SIN unless I produce a valid work permit with new expiry date.
So basically, how do I go about renewing my SIN whilst on Implied Status?
As far as I know working under implied status doesn't require a renewed SIN. You can work with your expired one until you get your OPW. I'm not 100% sure but one of my co-workers is doing the same at the moment after double-checking with CIC
I've done some extensive reading tonight and it appears that you cannot renew your SIN whilst on Implied Status. However, if you have Implied Status that allows you to work, and you stay in Canada during your application process, you can continue with your current employer.
Also as I've been told many times before, being on Implied Status between an IEC visa and an OWP does not grant me the ability to work legally. But from what I understand, it still allows me to stay in the country.
