I do remember its mentioned somewhere that biometric is not required unless we fall into some 3 bullet point category.Yes the trend is if you have paid for the fees and you dont need it then they refund it.I am still waiting for an update as to if the decision is approved and if the card will be dispatched soon.
Mine and my family (Daughter is 12yrs now) PR are from May-2015 and about to renew card now:
Do we have to give biometrics? Condition mention on CIC website is confusing.
Let me know.
Thanks
Quote from CIC website:
"If you apply for a permanent resident card, you don’t need to give your biometrics.
However, you’ll need to give your biometrics if:
you were less than 14 years old when we received your application for permanent residence and you applied for permanent residence on or after December 31, 2018
AND
you’re now older than 14 years old and are applying for a new permanent resident card, a replacement or renewal"
That's what worries me.. I will only know once I get to know what the decsion is.I also saw that they have screwed up my home address by spelling it wrongly..I have given them an alternate mailing address so hopefully things should be fine.

I dont think your daughter meets the above condition since you applied pr before 2015 hence you wouldnt need biometrics.I was initially confused by this and that's the reason I paid for my biometrics.i heard if they dont use it they refund it and moreover its 50 bucks so I felt it's alright. Please do check with someone else too. This is my opinion.

No man I haven't received any updates yet. I read somewhere that it could take 4 days or more since ecas starts showing up to get the complete update.I am still unclear as to what decsion has been made.
