High school does not count. Most of high school dont even have a specialization so no, it is not a field changing. Field changing only reflect your previous university studies. Gap year should include the reason and the activities during that gap time (study language, work, ...) If you just take a gap year without doing anything, that can be red flag for VOs.
At the time, I wanted to study in Canada, but I was not able to as my marks were too low, during that time I took a year to decide on which field to study, other than science, and then I pursued a bachelor's's the following year. Would that be considered as doing nothing? I did some work (the one I previously mentioned.
Well then you need to be honest about that and explain it in your SOP. Whether you are gonna get your study permit or not, it also depends on other factors such as ties to home country, financial abilities, your IETLS. Good luck.
It is still considered a DIPLOMA.... the difference you do it after graduating from a degree. I would advice you apply for a Masters Degree to Increase your chance. Unfortunately, Capilano doesn't have Masters degree program in Business Related studies
