regular visa - asking for medicals and insurance?

My mum just applied for regular visit visa but today they sent her a letter requesting medicals and medical insurance. Her requested stay was for 4 months with regular visit visa she is 66yrs old.

Has anyone experienced this before. Also does this mean they will issue her a supervisa either way as long as it is positive and she can come I am happy.

Do I need to get 1 yr medical insurance or just regular insurance for 4-6 months?

Any help would be appreciated.

I assume it is because of her age and they want to make sure she is health and wont be a burden on the Canadian medical system and no she wont be issued a super visa unless you apply for a super visa.

Insurance should cover the time period she is in Canada for.

There is no guarantee on any visas

That is what I figured too.

You should check the TRV application form just to be sure you did not select 'Super visa' in the 'Details of visit'.

We have seen cases where super visa applicants were issued TRVs. So, the converse could be possible, Or otherwise maybe just a TRV.

BTW do you meet LICO?

You can buy an insurance policy for the intended duration of her visit i.e. for the requested 4 months' visit

Yes the application was triple checked by my mother as we had -ve experince before with supervisa. The vfs person at the counter also checked and said all paperwork is in order and nothing required. They would have asked then for medical etc if supervisa was checked.

Either way we meet and exceed LICO requirements and I did mention that in my letter to the consulate saying we are able t o provide for my mother.

I will purchase insurance for the few months required and extend as needed I suppose.

IRCC does request for medicals for some TRV applicants. It has nothing to do with the age of the applicant. That said, maybe IRCC believes your mom should be covered by insurance even for a 4 months' stay

fair enough. I don't mind paying. I'm just confused as to which insurance to get regular or supervisa but you have answered that for me.

Sorry one more question. My mother has no preexisting medical conditions should I purchase her medical insurance before or after her medical exam just in case something comes up?
