Hello everyone, I'm concerning about the Refugee travel document. I want to apply for as a protected person.
I do have a medical situation where I need to have a Surgery.
And as we all know, Canadian Health care system SUCKS and god damn SLOW so I'm planning to get the Surgery in another country.
However, I've been suffering from a panic attack I had due to the SLOW health care system here, because no one cares about me and I their appointments are not convenient at all!
So guys, can I apply for the urgent Travel document in this case?
What do I have to provide?
What if I apply in a normal processing time, how long it takes to receive my Travel document?
Thanks all

You can try. Have you made sure you can enter the other country with an RTD, whether you need a visa and have you prearranged medical care? How long are you legally able to stay in that country on an RTD. I would attach any prepayment or booking information for the hospital to your RTD application. It is obviously not an extremely time sensitive operation. Not sure where you are having surgery but there are many stories of things going wrong abroad with medical care and people being stuck abroad unable to return without a medical evacuation, complications leading to much longer stays and significantly higher costs than people were planing for. Also lots of complications that need to be treated or addressed when back in Canada. Many surgeons don’t want to take on patients who have had “botched” surgeries abroad because they know they will be blamed when outcomes are not great but there are no good fixes. Agree that the healthcare system has many issues and is very frustrating to deal with especially at the moment but going to get healthcare abroad comes with a lot of risks and potential problems that people need to be prepared to deal with. For example would plan for your stay to need to be extended by months if needed and be prepared to pay if your costs increase dramatically. Some plan to go abroad for 2 weeks during their vacation time and have just enough savings. That is a recipe for disaster.

Thank you for your informative replay!
how long it takes to receive the RTD with no urgent case? I mean on average.
I honestly already hate the way health care works here, I've been in many different countries but Canada health care is by far the worst experience, Unfortunately.
