I received an email from IRCC in regards to my application sponsoring my wife along with the application for Permanent Resident under the Family Class Sponsorship. The first line states ...quote...
"This refers to the Application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class you submitted to this office on
behalf of XXXXXXX XXXXXX and family (if applicable).
We are pleased to inform that you have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor."

that means the principal applicant is just met the eligibility requirements to become permanent residence in Canada but the applicant and family members if applicable still have to pass the medical exam, security and background checks.
This ONLY means that the sponsor has passed the basic eligibility checks as a sponsor. It states nothing regarding the principal applicant.
It's the second step in the process, after AOR.
You have to wait for a letter that says the applicant you are sponsoring has met the requirements to become a permanent resident or the applicant file has been transferred for further assessment depending on the officer assessment of the principal applicant given the personal circumstances of your relationship with the applicant. This could be done within 12months or many more months. At this stage you could order your notes and know what is going on
