Right before my post graduate work permit expired, I applied for PR under common law and therefore, I am on implied status, meaning I can continue to work full-time in Canada. However, I was told by Service Ontario that I can't renew my OHIP until I receive my PR.
I'd like to know if there is absolutely NO WAY to renew my health card until I get my PR. I need to get an MRI done as soon as possible.

You need to go through OHIP eligibility review committee. It took us about a month to get new OHIP card. They would also pay for all expenses triggered while we waited or their decision.
