If I am not mistaken, after certain number of years, you can get your record expunged by submitting a request for the same to the RCMP. You might want to look into that if this is an issue.
Thanks for the tip, submitted that request this morning to the local police force that charged me... but typical turn around time on that is 12-18 months. Kicking myself for not doing this years ago. I did not realize that even with a charge being stayed or withdrawn you are pretty much treated as a convict when requesting the RCMP check.

Yes, it does take a long time. I know because a friend of mine requested for the same and it took 8 months in his case. His was a DUI charge but never convicted.
If the charge will show up on your record, I recommend attaching a letter of explanation on the circumstances that led to it, mentioning that you were never charged and you have a clean record since. You are basically trying to satisfy the officer that you are not going to be a risk to the Canadian people and will obey all the laws. So add as much proof as possible.
I am not fully aware of the EE process, but in the old process you can submit your application without the PCC. So with that you can either send the PCC at a later date or whenever the IRCC requests it. This should buy you some time and you may be able to get the charge expunged before you need to submit it.
hey simar,
Actually im liltle worried about same, i sent my fingerprints yesterday.
i got charged for assault & had signed peace bond 2 years ago(already expired an year ago though). was that a same case with you.
Thanks
I am international student in Canada, i was charged with assault in Aug 2015 but related charges will be withdrawn by alternative measures in January 2016. My problem is that i have to apply for renewal of my study permit in Feb 2016. I was wondering that is it effect my study permit renewal and future PR application. I would be greatly appreciated for your suggestions.
There is now way that can happen except you share same last name with the main criminal, all you need is please go to any police station and seek help and further see an immigration attorney.
