My mother's last name in my passport has been incorrectly printed with an extra "a". Even if it was incorrect, I filled the same last name in all my applications so far (WP extensions, Visa, CEC etc...) and never had any problem. I am not in my home country to get this corrected and was a little worried if I should be resending some of my CEC related forms with the correct name now...

Still the same question.. Do the police report, birth certificate (or all other document) from your home country also contain your mother's name with extra "a"? If e'thing is consistent, you should be fine.. otherwise, an affidavit will be needed...

I guess you are trying to say the country you are originally from, don't put mother's name any where? Then I don't see any problem except when you will apply for your parent's immigration, you will have to do an affidavit or change the name accordingly.
