I am in need of some expert advice. As of March 1, I am on implied status as I am currently waiting for a decision about my work permit renewal application. I have PGWP which was given to me for 2 years only as my passport was expiring.
I have renewed my passport and applied for work permit renewal as well but the process is taking longer. I know that under implied status I can continue working in my current job. I wanted to ask that do I need to inform Service Canada or/and Immigration Canada that I am on implied status or they will be assume it automatically??

No, you don't have to inform anyone (maybe your employer because your SIN card is probably expiring) Your medical is probably expiring too, but you can do anything until you get your new WP.
Thanks a lot for your advice. I have already informed my employer abt this and they are ok with it as I have showed them all the documents that prove my implied status. I just praying that I get my work permit as soon as possible.
My biggest mistake was to send a paper application and they take more then 3 months to come. Currently on the website it says 108 day. I applied in the 3rd week of November
The CPC in Alberta recieved my application on 1 March 2011.Did you aplly at the same place as the processing times mentioned are for apllication outside Canada and not one in Canada. So do you think they will take long time for giving the PGWP.I had the same case as you,was given PGWP till the expiry date of my passport and so had to apply for the remaining work permit after renewing the passport.
I will be screwed if I dont get the visa in a month as I am planning to get married in May and have to apply for multiple visa to India after I receive the PGWP
I am also trying to figure out the forms required for multiple entry,if you have an idea about the forms and processing times do let me know.
I applied the same place as you did ... CPC Vegreville. If you see the paper application times is 108 days and online application is less.
My application reached them on the 25th Nov 2010 and I am still waiting. my dilemma is I am being offered a full time position in the company I am working as a contractor. Cant sign the papers till I get my WP. I hope it is soon as they r almost there.
I would like to ask other people on this forum who were in the same situation as us, did they receive their renewed PGWP??
