Apologies for the inconvenience, but I was wondering if someone could clarify a situation for me.
Say I have a Study Permit that is expiring soon, but I want to return to Canada to visit -- not as a student, but as a visitor, with my stay crossing the expiry date -- is it possible to apply for and receive a visitor's visa prior to the student visa expiring? Does applying for the Visitor's Visa cancel out the permit?
There is a "grace period" where you can travel freely after your permit expires, usually 1-2 weeks. If your stay is longer than that then you should apply to extend your status as a visitor. This only applies if you are not leaving the country.
However, to clarify the situation: what if I'm applying for the Visitor's Visa from outside Canada, with an expiring Student Permit on hand? Should I report the expiring Permit?
