question about visa+passport expiry

my mother's visitor visa is valid till 15th May 2016 and her passport is valid till 16th May 2016. Can she visit canada from jan 2016 to april 2016?

Yes, she can visit. There's no 6-months passport validity rule for Canada. The immigration officer may limit her stay to the validity of her passport

Also, do check with the airline if they'll let her board the flight
