Hello! I am in the process of applying for a certificate of Canadian citizenship, and I have a question regarding my parents, who are now both deceased. My parents were naturalized Canadian citizens who emigrated from Finland in 1952; I was born in Canada in 1959. We moved to the US when I was 8, and we all entered the US as permanent residents (green card holders). I became a US citizen in 1993, but my parents remained Canadian citizens until their deaths. I would like to hold dual citizenship for Canada and the US, which is why I am applying for a citizenship certificate. The problem is that I do not have either of my parents' certificates of Canadian citizenship, I only have their last issued Canadian passports. Is there any way for me to find out what their certificate numbers were?
Hi! That's what's not clear. The form asks for this information, but it does not say that it's optional, or that I do not have to provide it simply because I was born in Canada. Maybe it's just a badly-designed form - ?
You know, I think I was given a bit of incorrect direction by the folks I talked to at the embassy. I did a little more research on the official immigration website, and I believe I can just go straight to applying for a passport without bothering with getting a citizenship certificate. Thanks for your reply, steaky!

Since you became USA citizen only in 1993 there is no problem with your Canadian citizenship. It would have been problematic only if you would acquire other citizenship in the past (there was a period of time when Canada was not recognizing dual citizenship).
But from what you are saying you would need your parents birth certificates if you wanted to apply for Finnish citizenship. And attention you need to check there if they accept dual citizenships or not and what are the exceptions (if they do not your problem would be your USA citizenship more than Canadian citizenship).
