Hi! I am trying to plan for when my hubby gets his PPR (soon I hope!) and and trying to plan fininacially as well.
My hubby is visiting me in Canada while we wait and he has his car with him. Now I know you have to send in the paperwork to the American Border 72 hours in advance and we plan on going to Buffalo when we do get his PPR. Heres the question: Does his car have to be Physically in the US for that 72 hour period? (want to know if we have to get a hotel etc) or can we just fax them the paperwork 72 hours before we plan on crossing to go to Buffalo?
if anyone has any experience help would be welcome
I'm in the same boat. I called US Customs at the border crossing I plan to land at and they emailed me a document with all the info for vehicle exporting. Underlined, bolded, AND italicized multiple times is the following:
the vehicle must be in the United States for the 3-business days
I'm currently in Canada as a visitor, so it looks like I'll be taking a short vacation to Washington! They said the 3 business days starts the moment you fax your documentation in. Call the CBP at the border crossing -- the RIV site has all the contact info for the different ports of entry. They'll give you specific information for your border crossing.
