We have received CoPR, however, I am unable to travel as my wife is pregnant and our doctor has advised against traveling. We are planning to have the baby delivered in India.
Request you to please advise on the next steps post the birth of the newborn. What are the steps to cancel our CoPR's and reopen the application to add the dependent child? What additional documents will be needed? What is the duration of the application processing for a dependent child? I wish to be prepared so that I can submit the application as early as possible.
I would, IMO, wait until the baby is born and add the child to your application. You will need to return the COPR and immigration visa to IRCC, but adding your child should effectively result in them reviewing the entire package and issue a new COPR and visa with new expiry dates. If you let the COPR expire, you will need to start the entire process over from the start. The process of adding a dependent child is here:
After your child is born, contact the visa officer to request your child is added to your PR app. That will make your current COPRs invalid, and visa officer will need to process your new child in the app and re-issue all the COPRs.
Note there is a chance if your medicals expire during this time, you may need to take them again.
