Hey all
So i'm getting my PR thru the family sponsorship program on the federal level. Will b landing in Ottawa.
However, I wish to stay and work in Quebec. Is that possible?
Also, what r the implications for the RAMQ (health insurance), the SIN card and the drivers licence?
please reply...its all happening in a week n im freaking out...i love montreal n dont want to move to ottawa...

Hi there,
As far as I know, once you land, you're a permanent resident and you can move across the country.
I have two uncles in Canada, one which landed in Quebec and the other in Ontario and both ended up settling down in the opposite province roughly a month after landing (Many many years ago, so things may have changed).
However, I don't know what that implies in terms of RAMQ, SIN, etc. because I would imagine that you would have to get a CSQ.
Perhaps someone else has more info on this topic?
Thanks...its a lil reassuring. guess i will have to call them n find out.
