I received my AOR in NOV 2016 and no update in my file tried to call cic several times ended up getting same answer that my back ground verification is going on and application status column is blank before it used be ON HOLD. Recent call with cic told me that i have to wait untill september so that they can register complaint since it will be crossed 13 months but i dont beleive in it since my friend file has passed 13 months but no action from them.
I would like to know the process to extend my work permit but in my case i am self employed...Any sugesstion
I am not sure on work permit part but for your PR application you can start by reaching out to CSIS to understand whether they have received and processed your request at their end .also request GCMS notes so that you can understand where exactly is ball dropped it will anyways take month to get GCMS ...(i have read stories on forum where some agent changed or moved and files they were working on went on tailspin...or some mistake done by VO and file not moved forward at all ...) ,third thing reach out to your local MP's office with your case ... all these things might not expedite your case but will give you enough data to take informed steps regarding your work permit and future immigration status..
Dear All,
I need your advice, i am almost 18 months of processing now and till today no updates from the VO, i did my medical in May 2016 and now for sure its expired, paid RPRF, i contacted the VO and they replied that my background still in progress.
last GCMS notes shows that my security check is done while my wife not started, which is weird, notes are 7 months old.
What can be done at this stage?
Thank you

Reach out to CSIS on security check also request for latest GCMS notes ... that will give at least idea where exactly things are .. if you are inland your medicals might be waived off ...
they didnt start
I cannot be sure on this unless i have my GCMS notes in my hand...But any way BG shouldn't take more than 3-4 months unless there are some issue with profile ,check below link on security https://www.datapacrat.com/True/INTEL/CSIS/BACK9E.HTM
Do applications for singles goes faster than couple ?

If nothing happens, I would send a formal complaint to the London VO email (even better if prepared by an immigration attorney). 18 months is excessive, specially when you don't have an explanation for it.
Even if it delays the application a couple of weeks, I would prefer to know what's going on. And hopefully that will bring attention to the application.
(My CSQ application took twice the normal processing time, and 2 weeks after a formal complaint sent by my immigration lawyer, it was all sorted out and the CSQ delivered. My CSQ application was apparently stuck due to a payment software problem they had at the time in Paris VO, so they thought I hadn't paid the fees.)
I noticed that the people who reached 13+ months and received nothing from CIC never tell the final. So what finally happens with such applications more likely? Do they finally receive the refusal letter or everything is alright?

There are some threads where people have waited for more than 15-20 months from EE category and eventually received ppr ..i believe there will be check and balances in the system...

The only explanation i got from the VO that my background check still in progress and they cannot provide me a timeline to finalize my application, i am afraid that my application will never reach an end, i am not able to understand why this delays in the security check
