Hi ALL,

I got PR visa in March'11. I am single and have no brothers and sisters. I am landing in Canada on 6th May'11. I want to apply for my mother's Temporary Resident Visa. My mother is a retired govt employee and have sufficient funds.I have the following queries :

1When can I apply for her TRV?
2 From where should I apply for TRV-India or Canada.
3 Should I apply for single entry or multiple entry( my mother has previously travelled to New Zealand on tourist visa).
4 How much funds are considered to be good when applying for such visa.

Hi,

After landing in Canada and securing a place (better after getting a job) to live for you and your mother, you should send a letter of invitation to your mother, inviting her to visit Canada and to live with you for few months ( one TRV may be valid for 6 months). You should send her the copy of your PR Card, details of residential address and phone contact number. Your mother should apply for a TRV at the Canadian Embassy in your country or at the Canadian Consular Office, if any nearest to your home town. She should submit sufficient proof about her tie up in your country such as statement of bank accounts, copies of any property documentation, in order to show that she will return to her home country when TRV is expired. There is no specified funds to be shown like when you applied for your PR. She has to show enough funds for her travel and medical insurance. If she is applying immediately after your landing in Canada, the Canadian embassy may perhaps won't be satisfied with your ability to take care of her in Canada unless there is sufficient financial backgrounds are shown by way of your bank balance or job etc.

Getting multiple entry TRV depends to the country where she live. Usually single entry TRV is granted for 6 months, which can be extended according to the rules. Go to CIC.gc.ca website page visiting Canada.
