Hi Qorax....

As always, whenever there is an element of doubt in anything related to immigration,
your name strikes most of us, including me. :( :( :( :(

My son is already in Canada on a student's visa. When I enter Canada with my spouse
& daughter, what do I need to do regarding my son's immigration status. I'll be
carrying his passport with me to Canada where the immigration visa has been stamped.

I was planning to go to US ( probably drive down from Toronto to Buffalo) & get his
immigration status ticked while re-entering Canada. Is this a good idea??

Need your suggestions please.

Perfectly alright... given both of u have the US visa/s as well.

Else, he can just do 'flag-polling' or take an appointment from the local CIC office - for 'inland record of landing'*.

Qorax

*They have serious 'wait-time' issues though... could take 2-3 months to get the appointment.

Qorax.....

I guess I don't have time for flag polling. We'll take a short trip to US.

How long does it usually take to get an US visa?

Imdtly after landing here if u desire one -- u r likely to be refused.
But hey, that's what 'flag-polling' is all about ! Just X the border - get an US refusal - return back - perform 'landing'@the Canadian BP.
