I (Canadian Citizen) am in Mexico with my Mexican citizen common-law husband right now on a TRV and we will remain here until he receives his permanent residence. I was reading over the booklet and it says if you a non-resident you must show proof of how you will reestablish yourself once back in Canada. What happens if you are not a non-resident by the time you apply for sponsorship? Do you still show proof of how you will reestablish yourself once back in Canada, should I include a letter stating are purpose in Mexico and the duration of our stay?
Just looking for advice for people who have been in this situation since I am a little confused! Thanks.
If you are a Canadian then it is fine for you to stay with your partner until his PR comes through, but you must send evidence that you plan to live in Canada once it does. This can be proof of property in Canada, contact with a Real Estate agent, letter from friends or family stating you can live with them for a while once you arrive, proof of job offer, proof of job search, proof of enrolment or acceptance to an educational program, and proof of severing ties in Mexico (plans to quit job, sell property, etc). Any of the above or a combination is enough to show your plans to re-establish. You can also write a letter stating your plans that you cannot yet prove, but you should have some tangible proof as well.
